Why bother? Well, the starting point was in January 2001 when the news of the death of Gavin Simonsen, Down At Heel's founding guitarist reached the other band members. This site is a tribute to him.

I had lost touch with Gavin when he moved North to Edinburgh in the mid-90s. He never sent a new address or phone number. So I searched the Internet one morning to track him down, but instead I found his name in a family tree telling me that he had been dead some 20 months.

It is a terrible way to discover the loss of a close friend, for although we had not spoken in four years, we would always be kindred souls. Gavin should have been a star. He would have loved the humour of doing something 'tongue-in-cheek' like this. I hope you enjoy it too.
